Under the Office of the Director-General, the Education Coordinator will be responsible for planning and organizing CENCOR’s educational programs. The Education Coordinator will work with the CENCOR Staff to make sure programs and activities are related to the mission, vision, and institutional priorities of the Conservation Center. This is a Part-time position, up to 16 hours per week year-round, for two (2) years. The position is flexible and may work weekends and evening hours as needed.
This position involves the planning and presentation of educational programs that enhance public understanding of heritage and heritage conservation. Contributes to educational research efforts and assists in the development and production of educational materials, as well as interactive programs and other tasks as required to assist in promoting the mission of the Institution. The position involves the coordination of talks, lectures, seminars, symposia, and other educational programs of the Conservation Center.

Centro de Conservación y Restauración de Puerto Rico (CENCOR) is a private, nonprofit

Responsibilities | Responsabilidades
As Education Coordinator, the individual filling this position will plan, manage and develop CENCOR’s educational programming. Ideally, the individual will have general knowledge about heritage, conservation, and history of Puerto Rico and have some experience in facilitating or conducting research, education, outreach, and/or advocacy pertaining to the preservation and conservation of cultural heritage in Puerto Rico. The successful candidate should be fully conversant with cultural competencies.
The Education Coordinator will report directly to and work closely with the Director-General.
The position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and experience with event planning and managing educational and public events, publications, and research. The position entails the following tasks:
Work with Director-General and Staff on direction and priorities for educational programming.
Coordinate the implementation of the education and training plan.
Liaison with culture and arts and community organizations, universities, schools, and educators to promote the activities of the Conservation Center in line with its various programs.
Prepares, facilitates, and provides follow-ups related to educational activities.
Coordinate the planning and execution of events, workshops, conferences, and training.
Bring new perspectives and insights to the team on building new and innovative education strategies.
Support the development of public educational and information materials and presentations.
Collect and analyze program evaluations and makes recommendations for improvements on time.
Analyze needs for the development of new training or modifications of existing ones.
Develops and maintains good working relationships with the public, coworkers, volunteers, and program participants.
Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of effective partnerships.
Aids in general office routine, including registration of participants, preparation of reports, providing general information to the public, and coordinating special programs.
Assist in tracking and initiating related payments and reimbursements and monitoring spending against budget.
Attend weekly Staff meetings and other meetings as requested.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director-General.
Qualifications | Cualificaciones
This position requires a service-oriented person who is highly committed to the educational aims of the Centro de Conservación y Restauración de Puerto Rico. The successful candidate must have the following:
Bachelors or postgraduate degree in education, history, art history, museology, museum studies, museum education, historic preservation, art conservation, archaeology, or a related field.
Superior written and oral communication skills: fully bilingual (written and spoken) – Spanish and English
At least one (1) year of experience working in a similar position (in-person and virtual modality).
Provide evidence of organizational acumen and exceptional attention to detail, and must exhibit initiative, optimism, and the ability to listen well.
Ability to work effectively in teams and independently.
Experience and expertise in public speaking and group management skills.
Strong project management skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom Meetings, and similar learning.
Experience in the coordination of virtual, group, and community activities.
Ability to travel occasionally around the Island.
