Job Summary | Resumen
We are seeking a Data Entry Clerk who can support an important documentation and educational project of the Centro de Conservación y Restauración de Puerto Rico (CENCOR) in our Division of Historic Buildings and Sites. The project is part of our larger initiative to promote awareness of the preservation of our built heritage through a survey of historic buildings in 15 municipalities around the Islands.

Centro de Conservación y Restauración de Puerto Rico (CENCOR) is a private, nonprofit institution dedicated to promoting, protecting, and preserving Puerto Rico's cultural heritage, broadly interpreted to include heritage objects, collections, and architecture, and sites. CENCOR’s initiatives, programs, and projects provide educational and professional development opportunities to public and private cultural institutions, professionals, and the general public. Through conservation and preservation projects, study and research, education and training, and dissemination of cultural heritage, the Center help our communities to know and explore their culture, history, and heritage, to protect and preserve it. Our Staff comes from diverse disciplines, including architecture, archaeology, conservation, history, information science, engineering, operations management, and communications.
Responsibilities | Responsabilidades
The individual filling this position will play a vital role in supporting the field team and will be in charge of organizing databases and all collected data from the project. Knowledge of historic preservation and/or historic architecture in Puerto Rico and experience conducting research are desirable, but not required. The ideal candidate will be a fast typist with a keen eye for detail and have computer software knowledge and skills.
The Data Entry Clerk will report directly to and work closely with the Project Coordinator, Assistant Field Coordinator and the Director-General of the CENCOR.
The position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills. Major job responsibilities include:
Assist the Project Coordinator and Assistant Field Coordinator with organizing all collected data on site, documents and digital files, and ensuring completion of workﬂows, priorities, and schedules on a timely manner;
transfer data from paper formats into computer files (pdfs) or database systems;
create spreadsheets with large numbers of figures without mistakes;
reviewing data by comparing it to source documents;
update existing data;
retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested;
secures information and perform regular backups to ensure data preservation
sort and organize paperwork after entering data to ensure it is not lost;
other tasks related to the project, as required by the Project Coordinator, Assistant Field Coordinator and Director-General.
Qualifications | Cualificaciones
This position requires a service-oriented person who is highly committed to the educational aims of the Centro de Conservación y Restauración de Puerto Rico. The successful candidate must have the following:
High school diploma/GED; Associate and/or Bachelor’s degree.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English,
Provide evidence of organizational acumen and exceptional attention to detail, and must exhibit initiative, optimism, and the ability to listen well.
The candidate must be collegial and able to work as part of a team.
Ability to travel around the Islands.
Basic knowledge of office procedures and principles.
Familiarity with historic buildings and sites and/or initiatives in cultural heritage institutions in Puerto Rico is desirable but not required.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Great attention to detail.
Ability to work in a self-directed environment using strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel etc.) and Adobe Creative Suite software.
Ability to work with and through others to achieve measurable objectives.
Proven experience as data entry clerk or related office experience is a plus.
